This is the official homepage of me, SONIC FAN, sonicfan or SONIC_FAN. I'm the author of the Sonic Fights Robotnik series of fanfics, posted to usenet in alt.fan.sonic-hedgehog way back in 1998! Since SEGA is making Project Needlemouse (Sonic 4), an oldschool style Sonic game (maybe), I thought I would make a page for retro Sonic fanfics, by me and other authors. These were all written before Sonic X, or even Sonic Adventure, so they're based on the Satam, or Saturday Morning ABC Sonic cartoon, which was the main universe for Sonic fanfiction at the time.

As we used to say in the 90s, this page is "under construction" meaning it will look better later/never.

Lots more fanfics added including my non Sonic stories with new commentary, and an update to the Other Authors section. Sonic Fights Robotnik 7 is being revised again! Will be linking to ENHANCED EDITIONS of my stories on wattpad as they are published, way cool.

Sonic goes to an alternate universe to fight Robotnik (what else?). Sort of James Bond inspired. Did I mention Snively is a good guy?

Sonic Fights Robotnik 6: The Final Chapter!
The end of the series! Dr. Quack returns! The Robotnik Show! Chaos is in this before Sonic Adventure?! This story is intense and was a good ending for the series.

Sonic Fights Robotnik 7: Sonic's Next Adventure
Okay, thats a short story I wrote to be the official timeline for now. It's not as good as the others but you will know what happened before Sonic Fights Robotnik 8. The previous version have been moved to non-canon status, more about them below.

(v1, 1999)Sonic Fights Robotnik 7: Blue Streak Speeds By
After the ending of Sonic Fights Robotnik 6 everything was satisfyingly concluded, but I wanted to write another story. But the way I brought everything back was just bad, I admit. Considering these stories are in the hard sci-fi genre, fans expect better.
There's way too many crossovers, and even worse the writing style seems really *wOnKy*. I tried something different and added more details, but it's mostly wasting time describing nothing happening. That also made it really long, it's the longest story in the series (not including the remake). Some people like this style, not me though. Some parts are good, the Mega Man/Sonic crossover was great and the comics did the same thing in Worlds Collide many years later. I'm cool if SEGA used my idea, read the Legal Stuff disclaimers ;) Unfortunately it only takes up a small part of the story when it should have been the whole thing. (And speaking of Mega Man, I'd consider this story to be the Mega Man X7 of the series. Oog.)
David Kintobor's part in it was based on internet memes of the time, and not the badass furry cyberpunk fiction of Blood & Metal. Big problem with this story, too many "jokes".
Worst of all it doesn't connect to SFR8 because it's followed by the Shadowfox series which is unfinished. Due to this I revised it in 2016. Not really revised, but re-wrote it completely.

(v2, 2016)Sonic Fights Robotnik VII: Chaos & Emeralds
I started planning this remake shortly after writing Sonic Fights Robotnik 8. The writing improved a lot, I went back to my classic style that made the original 6 stories so successful. My biggest issue is the length. It's long, way past long. Originally it was split into 7 parts, but I stacked all of them together in that link so you can see how FOCKHUGE it is. It's longer than all the previous stories, and the original part 7 combined!! Since I wrote it to connect part 6 to part 8, it's supposed to fit in not be an EPIC OF GILGAMESH, bigger than Robuttnik's butt, with a colossal length that exceeds every other part joined together!! Erf.
There is too much to keep track of and incorporate into other stories. But I realized this isn't actually a Sonic Fights Robotnik part 7, this is more like an entire season 3, and even season 4 continuation of the SatAM cartoon series. Makes sense because it was partly based on the outline for a third season. This is an entire fanfic SERIES. Way too much to read if you just want to get to part 8.
It has a lot of good points and my favorites are Robo Shlobo Robotnik coming back as Eggman Nega and the return of Davey-kins Kintobor. This is sort of a fan sequel to Blood & Metal as you may have guessed from the subtitle. If you go down to the non canon section you can download it in it's original 7 parts. AS you'll notice each "part" is the size of one of the longer SFR storys. Like I said this should have been it's own separate series.

Will there be a THIRD Sonic Fights Robotnik 7? Do hedgehogs eat chili dogs ;)

(authors note: This story was written before the Sonic Boom TV show or game were out. So a few of the characterizations are a bit off. This has more comedy elements than Sonic Fights Robotnik, but it's actually more plot-focused than the show!)

Uncle Bob Returns!
This story has...A LOT of spelling errors. This was a personal challenge to write an entire fanfic in less than 1 hour. Um, it's kinda hard to understand.
Some of the ideas were good so they were fleshed out in Sonic Fights Robotnik 6. A few things (the secret interview and Bunnie's dad Rabbit Rabbot) even got carried over into the remake of Sonic Fights Robotnik VII.
The Special Edition
I tried running it through an automatic spell checker and re-released it as a special edition, but it was even harder to understand what's going on, if you can believe it!

Sonic Fights Robotnik 7: Blue Streak Speeds By (1999)

Even though it's been removed from the main timeline, this story is still okay. It just didn't fit in with the rest of the series which deals with important events, and this is a bunch of silly scenes that would be more at home in an episode of Sonic Boom than SatAM. Since the events that happen in part 7 are so crucial to the later stories, it had to be entirely re-written. But you could consider this a separate story, maybe Sonic The Hedgehog: Blue Streak Speeds By? ;)
(old commentary) Sonic returns to fight Robotnik again, on a free Mobius this time. Not one of my favorites, there's too many jokes and crossovers in this one. I know alot of Sonic
 fanfics based on Satam are too serious, unlike the original show which had lots of humor. But its important to have a good balance between the serious and funny parts, this fanfic is missing the character development that the previous ones had.

Yeah I wasn't entirely happy with this remake either. So it's been moved to the non-canon section. This ended up being the length of 5 Bibles so it's too much to keep track of and does not fix all the problems of the original part 7. BUt there is some cool stuff.

Because The Final Chapter is never really The Final Chapter. Sonic's quest for the chaos emeralds takes him BEYOND TIME AND SPACE! For the first time, Blaze and Silver come to the Sonic Fights Robotnik universe.

This is the brand new (November 2016) reimagining of Sonic Fights Robotnik 7. It replaces the old Sonic Fights Robotnik 7 and the Shadowfox series in the continuity.
I felt the original story and the follow-up Shadowfox series were too comedy-focused (they're like the Antoine episodes of SatAM). I never liked how it resolved the events of part 6, so this is a much more serious story (still with funny parts). It was also the most challnging to write because it contains several genres such as fantasy, sci-fi and cyberpunk. David Kintobor is in this one too, but he's more of a main character and I wrote it as a fan sequel to the classic Blood & Metal. Due to the length (eep!) it's split into 7 parts, or "books". It's lenghthy but it has EVERYTHING I wanted to write about Sonic SatAM. So....enjoy :)

Shadowfox
Picks up from where Sonic Fights Robotnik 7 left off.

This is where things get a bit "wonky". The authors notes of SFR8 say it's a direct continuation of these stories, but to be honest the only thing I used was the vague idea of an upgraded Commander Packbell. The only reason I said it was a continuation is because I *HATE* unresolved cliffhangers! Overall, kinda lame.

Sonic the Hedgehog's Ultimate Adventures (part 2)
Uh...this was part of a series of script-format fanfics. All I have to say is: bleh.
Part 1 is missing from usenet and I don't have it either. But it really sucks so who cares?

A Halloween of Death!

This is a seasonal fanfic written in 2010. If you read it you'll know why it doesn't really fit in the canon universe. Anyways, this story is bad-ass.


My non-Sonic fanfiction

Star Trek (TNG): Alien Attack!
I tried writing a Star Trek The Next Generation fic back in 1998. The Enterprise crew is attacked by some aliens and they have to fight them. It could probably use more science stuff but actually, it seems a lot like the reboot Star Trek movie series with the amount of action scenes it has. It's all right, but it's no Sonic Fights Robotnik which was my main focus at the time (for good reason). The sequel The Borg With The Golden Gun was never written or planned. But if I do write another Star Trek story it will most likely be a Sonic crossover.

Before Twilight: The Wolf Moon

A fanfic based on the Twilight movies written in 2010. This story is actually pretty cool, it's only based on the story of Twilight and New Moon. Edward moves to a new town that has a werewolf problem (as you might have guessed). Since none of the vampire/wolf friendship stuff happened yet they just fight all the time. It doesn't take long to read, so even if you never read the books or saw the movie, you might like it.
Compared to the other movies? Well in the next 3 movies not much interesting happens until the final fight at the end of Breaking Dawn pt2. That seems like something I would write in one of my fanfics. I didnt like the "it was all a dream" ending though, I would have had them use a vampire time-gem or something.
As I always say in the legal stuff, Stephanie Myer and Twilight corp can feel free to use this as a basis for a Twilight Prequel series if they want.

Edge of the Mirror: Return of Faith!

A short story I wrote as a possible sequel to Mirror's Edge (classic). It has some Sonic Fights Robotnik influence, but I'll say it's a lot better than the sequel/reboot Mirror's Edge: Catalyst that EA came up with.


Fanfics by other authors

So whats this section for? Not just a bunch of random fanfics, these are all from the 16-bit Genesis era of Sonic. We're talking 1994/95 here.
Some of these were probably  written while the Satam show was still on, or when everybody was waiting for it to come back unaware that it had been canceled before the third season. This section is for the fanfics I read back then that inspired my own stories.


Character Profiles

Tails' Tale

First off an introduction to the most famous fan character in Sonic fiction, Commander Packbell. Created by Bookshire Draftwood, Packbell is an android built by Robotnik. Unlike Robotnik, Packbell doesn't mess around when trying to robotocize or kill Sonic. He acts like an army commander would when trying to defeat a resistance, which contrasts with Robotnik who is an insane cartoon fat guy. Also he is a badass. No wonder he's in so many fanfics.
Included is Tails Tale in which he kills an entire village.

Altered Destiny
This story is the origin of Chris Petrucci (who is in Sonic Fights Robotnik a lot). I couldn't find an original copy so this is the mst3k-ified version, un-mst3ked by me. I didn't have time to go through and fix the formatting so it looks pretty bad. But anyways, Chris Petrucci is a human who comes to Mobius from earth, gets turned into a raccoon, falls in love with  a Mobian and plays Metallica and Dream Theater songs from his wristwatch.  Kind of like Avatar.

The origin of FX Ferret who makes a few appearances in Sonic Fights Robotnik. Sorry this is the MST3k version, I didn't feel like stripping the msting out. Old stories that weren't posted to Usenet are hard to find.

2 great stories written by Holly B Kraft. Especially The Seminar, as it builds up to the return of Snively. Unfortunately the series was never continued.

Bloodlines
Probably the most epic Sonic fanfic I've ever read. By Dan Drazen one of the greatest Sonic fan authors.

Blood and Metal

Probably the other most epic Sonic fanfic I've ever read. This is by David Gonterman aka Davey-Kins Foxfire, one of the most famous fanfic writers ever. Bloodlines was a masterpiece of emotional writing, but Blood and Metal is a masterpiece of ACTION. (spoilers: Mortal Kombat! and shooting Robotnik's head off). Phrackin' A.
This story has a few different versions, I'll see if I can find some other ones because they're more hardcore.
How awesome is this story? Davey-Kins is remaking it right now, 15 years later, (but not in the sonic universe this time).

Evolution of a Predator
Two stories about David Prower by Shawn Wolski. He's a "compuorganic" robot clone of Tails who was created when Tails tripped over some wires and accidentally fell into a robot-maker machine. He's actually been in the Sonic Fights Robotnik series for a long time, read my story "Jackerey Prower Adventure" for more details....
